A proposal to extend trading hours has been sent by NSE

On behalf of NSE, a proposal has been given to SEBI that they want to bring a second session in the market between 6 to 9 p.m. Initially permission has been sought for the trading of index futures and options and later permission has been sought for F&O of stocks of top Nifty or other indices. This proposal has been sent by NSE to SEBI.

But regulatory approval is still pending on this. The discussion on this proposal started on NSE on open forums last year i.e. from December 2022 itself. NSE had already started preparations for this. Now it can be assumed that it can be implemented by around December 2023 because The duration of this proposal was kept for one year i.e. from December 2022 to 2023. There was talk of approving it, so it is possible that it may be implemented from December 2023 and traders will get more time for trading.
The proposal has been forwarded to market regulator SEBI for time 6-9 pm
Let us tell you that currently, the trading time in the Indian market is from 9:15 in the morning to 3:30 in the afternoon, to extend it, NSE has issued a letter to SEBI which was done in December 2022 and the date of implementation on this is December. If it was kept till 2023 then it is possible that the trading time can be extended till December 2023.
